first time here....question about ovaries- keep 'em or not
My surgery is scheduled for July 3. Happy 4th of July!! I think I'll be seeing my own fireworks.
Anyways, I have Complex Hyperplasia w/o Atypia. I have a simple left ovarian cyst. I have family history of Cancer (all other types but not going to take a chance with this being 'MY' type)
I have fought infertility my whole life, and have not had a menstrual cycle since 1996, so I am grateful that I began bleeding on Feb 4 to get my attention that something was wrong. I will believe that was my warning sign. (did I say I was glad I got a period?? well, it didn't stop for 42 days, so I'm not that glad!!)
I guess I am talking too much. must be nerves. I trust my Dr. I did not get a second opinion. I want it out, very scared about the big 'C' word! He says he will leave my ovaries unless he sees a bigger issue with the cyst. I hear so many different opinions on the ovary issue. Any opinions out there??
I am getting more and more nervous. I'm not afraid of the surgery. I'm not second guessing my decision. I am however worried about everything being the same after I am healed.
Thanks for any input you may have.

Things may not be the same after surgery. Hopefully they are better!!!!
Having the ovaries taken out has to be your choice and your Dr.
If you are having cysts and problems dr. might take them out.
Since you have trust in your Dr. let dr. decide what is the best, If in doubt talk to your dr. and discuss this issue until you can decide what you really need to do.
for you

thanks for the messages colleen and patches. My Dr. says he would leave the ovaries in, but I keep getting told to have them out. Also, a neighbor (a nurse) just had her surgery and she had her dr. remove her appendix too. she said that if ever in the future you had any abdominal pain, it would automatically rule out an apendisitis.
How are both of you feeling after your surgeries??
:-) I hope!!!
