Pre op tomorrow, very scared!
I have only visited this site a couple times a month ago. I went to a 2nd doctor and he gave me the same opinion as my doctor. A full hysterectomy. I am very scared and I am the only one in my family to have this done. I even re-did my will today. Please say a prayer me and my family. God Bless each and everyone of you!

Re: Pre op tomorrow, very scared!
It is ok to to be worried. I had my complete hyst July 2009 and I was a basket case. I wish I had known about this site before my surgery, just reading what other women have posted would have helped me not feel so alone and confused.
I have said a prayer for you and will continue to do so, cast your worries upon Him. Huge hugs.

Re: Pre op tomorrow, very scared!
Saying prayers for you!! Waiting is truly the hard part. I went through the anxiety of not knowing what would happen to me. Didn't redo the will, but thought about it often!! I did call my doctor and let him know what was going on. He was gracious and call in an anti-anxiety med for me. It helped me sleep!
Remember that God is carrying you and loves you. Through him we can do all things!

Hi Sparkles ~~
I discovered this site acouple weeks ago when I found out I'd be having a hysterectomy. I've been reading, taking notes, and trying to learn all I can. Last night I signed up so I could "talk" with everyone.
One thing I have noticed in my readings and what I try to keep remembering is how many ladies say the anxiety and fear waiting for surgery was the worst part. In just a few days you will be able to come back and tell us that yourself!!
I hope your pre-op appointment goes well today. Just think, you'll be one step closer after that is done. Sending you lots of calming, positive thoughts.

Re: Pre op tomorrow, very scared!
Hi godsparkles
I hope you were able to get some good sleep. I didn't sleep well in the weeks leading up to my hysterectomy, and the last week was the hardest.
Many women here have felt alone in this process, with no friends or family who'd had a hysterectomy. Fortunately, most of us have found comfort here with other women who have walked this path before us. I was so relieved to know that other women had the same feelings and questions as I did.
I hope your pre-op goes well and helps to provide a sense of calm for you. Let us know how it goes!

Re: Pre op tomorrow, very scared!
More hugs from another sister, godsparkles! The worrying and waiting was truly the worst part of my TAH/BSO (I'm 46 y/o). Like Starrynight wrote in her post, I kept reminding myself of all of the posts on this website that also said that, thinking THAT many women can't be wrong! So keep positive thoughts along with your faith.
Do what you need to do to feel prepared for your upcoming surgery, be it rewriting your will to cleaning your house top to bottom to going to church everyday. During my pre-op paperwork I was asked about "religious needs" and was surprised at how comforting it was to have the hospital priest do the annointing of the sick just before my surgery.
Hang in there! And definitely keep reading and posting here - you have a HUGE community of women here to support you.

Re: Pre op tomorrow, very scared!
Hi godsparkles
Waiting is the worst part. I'm nearly two weeks post-op....and I can't believe how I fretted waiting for my surgery In a few days you will be posting on the post op page
Here are some tips:
1. Take some ginger to the hospital with you - it really helps with the medical gas bloating - I PROMISE! Crystallized ginger - it's yummy and REALLY WORKS!
2. Take some peppermints, too - you'll be really dry mouthed and thirsty - they help a lot.
3. Make sure you have a pillow with you for the ride home (to put between you and the setbelt). They hystersisters pillow from the hystersisters store is perfect!
4. Order the belly band - it's wonderful!!!!
5. Drink lots of water and use something like benfiber or acacia fiber - awesome stuff!
6. Get up and walk as soon and as often as you can. short, frequent walks really help getting things moving
7. If you can, get a body pillow. It makes sleeping so much easier!
8. Relax, relax, relax. Take your time to recover - you are a princess after all!!!
Good luck - you'll be in the post op forum soon
