Embarrassing sex question post hysterectomy

Hey ladies I have a very personal embarrassing question to ask. I had a subcervical hysterectomy and I kept one ovary.

I have always had an active sex life with my BF. Well after the hysterectomy my sex drive is still there BUT I'm not getting as well you know lubricated as before. Even with orgasm I have one BUT it's not well lubricated anymore.

Is this normal after this surg? Sorry to ask such an embarrassing question but I've never had a problem with this before

Have you been cleared ? Could take awhile for things to return to normal. Your still pretty early. Might need to call Dr. It's not uncommon for many women to need a lube and a good amount after this surgery.

It shouldn't be embarrassing. As mentioned make sure your doctor has specifically cleared your for intercourse. Also realize that your ovary may take a while to get back to working full force, so it may not be telling the vaginal walls to lubricate properly. Besides, when we are early post-op we need to use plenty of lubricant, whether it feels like we need it or not. Perhaps with a little time things will get back to normal. But if they don't, it's not the end of the world to use lubricant whenever you have sex. I have to do that, but I lost both ovaries. BTW, the cervix has nothing to do with lubrication. You probably know that, but I just wanted to put it out there.

I'd like to add that the cervix does produce some mucus during ovulation. We used the Billings Method as birth control, without a cervix you mite miss that clearish egg white type stuff your body produces. So a little less.

At 4 months, no need for lube. But my Dr. recommended vegetable oil for a few months after, just for comfort, worked well. No alcohols in it to irritate, but ck w/ your Doc. Your welcome, I appreciated others helping me when I had those questions and I was so shy to ask them even to the nurse. Don't you wish our elders had given us a book on this ? LOL.
