Spotting 2-3 weeks post op hysterectomy

I had my hysterectomy on August 12th. I am a college professor and went back to work 13 days after the surgery. I am still spotting and wondered what your experience was/is and what you suggest.

I go to the grocery store and get tired and find a bit of spotting. I am also very tired and I think I didn't consider all the healing that is still occurring. I don't want to hurt myself or hinder my recovery.

Thank you - anything would be appreciated!

Re: Spotting 2-3 weeks post op

13 days post op and you returned to work? I could see me trying to do that too....but I know it's too soon. And it sounds like your body is begging you to slow down.

If you can't take the time off (legally I think you can) can you have your work space modified so you aren't standing so much? Feet elevated?

I'd really urge you to take the rest of your medical leave.

Take care!

Re: Spotting 2-3 weeks post op hysterectomy

I find that when I walk or do more I spot more. I am going into my 3rd week from lavh now. I get very tired too. I am still spotting and sometimes if I walk too much, I hurt a little and I realize I need to sit or rest. We had major surgery and it's going to take a bit. I think it is normal. Of course you went back to work so I imagine that's why. I am a housewife. I have been blessed to be able to have lots of help too. I don't know if that helps you but I pray for your speedy recovery.

Re: Spotting 2-3 weeks post op hysterectomy

TM78 Thank you for writing. I was just sitting in my chair crying. While my bleed hasn't increased, it has gone to a bright red color. I called the Dr. and they said come in next Monday the Dr. is out Thurs. and Fri. Well I guess it isn't serious but I don't understand the change.
I am a college professor and I think I am moving minimally but the stresses of situations there along with having the surgery three weeks ago tomorrow are just almost too much to bare at this time. Your kind words and prayers came at the perfect time.

I feel lost as to this spotting and I wonder what is happening to me.

I too wish you a speedy recovery

You are so welcome. I really hope the doctor puts your mind at ease and that nothing is wrong. I feel so sad knowing you were sitting there crying. Bless your heart. If I could hug I would! So here's to air hugs from across the way! Keep us posted chicky!
