10 days post hysterectomy: I over did it today

I am only 10 days post-op LSH, BS. I was feeling great...swollen still, but not hurting very much. I got the ok to drive from my doctor after a week. I decided to drive to get out of the house to pick my kids up from school. Bad idea!! Hurting when I got home. Resorted to taking a pain pill and now am nauseated. Are you all still needing pain meds? When will I be bark to perform simple everyday things again? I guess I'm getting a but stir crazy.

Take it slow. It is easy to do too much when you are feeling well and having a bout of cabin fever.

I'm still taking pain pills. It is really really hard not to just grab the vacuum or start picking up stuff on the floor but we have one chance to heal right. Remind yourself that. I can't wait to be back to normal.

Re: I over did it today

DON'T rush it!

Overdoing when you feel good can make you really hurt! I tried a little light housework at around 2 weeks or so (wiping the countertops, straightening up-no lifting or vacuuming) and I remember hurting really bad that evening and had to take a pain pill. I don't remember exactly how long I took the narcotic pain meds but I took 600 mg of ibuprofen every 6 hours around the clock for a full six weeks, then around twice a day for a few more weeks.

It's frustrating not to be able to do simple things, but please, don't be tempted to do too much! Give it several more weeks and you'll slowly start being surprised at how good you are starting to feel.
