Anyone else having terrible pain w/bm?

I'm sorry to be so blunt but this morning it was as bad as labor pains! It isn't hard, I'm not constipated. My bowels are just extremely inflamed. It makes me not want to eat anything. I have been eating fairly light, foods w/ lots of fiber as always. I am 11 days out. Anyone else out there with painful intestines?

Anyone else having terrible pain w/bm?

My first bm was very difficult, and I got diarrhea afterwards. The second was a bit better. I've been eating All Bran cereal and two prunes every morning, and it has seemed to help. Also taking 2 Colace (100mg) a day.

Good luck!

Anyone else having terrible pain w/bm?

I too am having some pain in my lower abdomen with gas/bm's...........I'm sure it's just from all of the work they did when they were in there. I had a TAH, and there were some complications. I'm not having trouble having a bm, it's just fairly uncomfortable.

Anyone else having terrible pain w/bm?

This too shall pass ladies. My bm's were SO painful for about 5-6 weeks after my TVH. It felt like I had to 'give birth' to them - LOL!!! Really - panting sweating - agony! And I was not constipated. I remember being back at work and luckily my job is very flexible because I would work at home in the am until I was done giving birth and then head out for the day!

It happened again after my Feb abdominal surgery. I'm happy to report that is does go away and pooing will again feel normal one day

Hang in there!!

Anyone else having terrible pain w/bm?

Your doing the right thing eating a lot of fiber. I had the same problem, I am still taking stool softeners, one in the morning, and one at night. Drinking a lot of water helps as well, it gets better, hang in there.

Anyone else having terrible pain w/bm?

I was worried about having my first bm but it was easier than I anticpated. I found that doing the relaxing breathing I was taught for another condition was extremely helpful. I don't know what giving birth is like or the methods to relieve pain but from what I see on TV it looks similar. When you are on the toilet and about to "go" take deep breaths to relax your body (tensing up makes the pain feel worse) then while I am going I just keep taking deep breaths in and exhaling through my mouth and keep your focus on your breathing not the painful process you are doing...lol It really seemed to help me and as dr. ordered I would take stool softeners when I felt I needed them. I just tried not to use my stomach muscles which helped with the breathing to get through my bm's. Hope that helps someone...I know it made a world of difference when I was getting gas pains and worrying about having my bm's.

Anyone else having terrible pain w/bm?

I too have had problems with BM and felt like I was giving birth too!! I never actually gave birth ..had 3 c-sections but if I had...I did use lamaze breathing to help me get throught the pain of the first few trips to the bathroom!! I have tried everything and finally found on this web site somewhere that someone suggested 2 tablespoons of Milk of Magnesia every night before bed...done that the last 3 night and lo and behold I am having "normal" pain-free bathroom trips!! No explosions like with laxatives and no running to the bathroom hoping and praying it's available!! It seems to help move everything along more naturally throughout the day too! My youngest son had problems with BM's since birth and a doc finally told me to help him learn the feeling of normal and to re-train his bowels to move to give him MOM every night before bed! It was a God send to us!!! I figured if it worked so well for him...why not for me too? After all, everything goes to sleep with anethstesia so maybe mine just needed a little extra help "learning" how again!!
