dVH/RALH: Pre-hysterectomy (5/20) Bowel prep did not work

I'm upset, annoyed, and also scared. Surgery is tomorrow. I was told to drink only liquids today until midnight, take magnesium citrate at noon and two Fleet enemas at night. I have yet to produce a significant bowel movement. I have taken these treatments before and have had success however both with my colonoscopy 2 years ago and tonight I have not had the reaction that is expected and I am wondering if I have some sort of a blockage that is preventing these things from working?

Two years ago after the colonoscopy I was actually scolded, told "Your prep was poor." I said I did everything you told me to the letter and I'm sorry that I wasn't able to go. Now I fear the same thing will happen tomorrow. I will be persona non grata on the operating table due to making a mess and also scared this means I have greater problems than just my uterus and ovaries.

I did an enema the night before with less than great results. I told my surgeon before surgery I got a c- for enemas. He asked if if produced a BM and I said yes. He said don't worry about it.

I asked if I could use milk of magnesia and they said yes..that always works for me

I didn't start going until 2 hrs before my surgery. I don't think it was a big deal

My Dr doesn't even do bowel prep anymore, not like what you were directed. I had daVinci. Doc said she hasn't seen much difference in major prep and what she now prescribes: clear liquids only 24 hours before surgery. She may have decided that due to the fact that she only does hysterectomies either vaginally or daVinci.
