Numbness in upper thigh

I woke up tonight and have some numbness in my right thigh. No pain just feels weird. Do I need to be seen by a dr?

Re: Numbness in upper thigh

Morning Kubie,

Anything that doesnt feel right should be addressed by your doctor. A quick phone call at least, just to reassure you, but I wouldnt leave it if I was concerned.

Re: Numbness in upper thigh

I had the same thing 3 days after my surgery. I called my doc and he sent me for a sonogram of both legs . Thankfully, it revealed no abnormalities. They said it could just be from the surgery and should disappear. Call your doc though.

Much luck to you.

Re: Numbness in upper thigh

Hi Kubie, I am 4 weeks post op. I have the same problem. My whole thigh from the hip to the knee, from the middle front to the middle back and the whole outside of my thigh is numb. I also have tingling, burning, and cramping sensations in the skin and muscle, even though my skin is numb to touch. I get an itch in it, but can't itch it. I have two doctors telling me two different things about it. When I called the ask a nurse after my surgery they checked with the on call doctor and he said it is a nerve injury probably caused by stir-ups/positioning during surgery. They told to me to followup with my surgeon the next business day. My surgeon said they have had another patient with the same thing. She doesn't think it was caused by positioning, but said the nerve could run close to one of my incisions. They don't know if it will get better or not for sure, but think it will pass with time. They said it will take awhile. I would check with your doctor to be sure you don't have a clot or anything. Good Luck!

Re: Numbness in upper thigh

Talked to a dr, mine is out but they think I just aggravated the nerves in my leg causing the tingling/numbness. She thought there was probably some swelling and would go away with time. If not I go to see my dr early next week!!!
