Bleeding - 4 months on

Hey Ladies - just a quick one for you all. Had a subtotal hysterectomy on the 22nd March but exactly 4 weeks ago I had a slight bleed which lasted for approx 3-4 days. Went to my doctor and he said that it was probably an infection and gave me an anti-biotic for 7 days. Now yesterday (which is exactly 4 weeks on) I am having the same type of bleed. Is this normal? Do you think that I should be ringing my doctor again?

I am having chemo now too since April due to metastatic bowel cancer growing on my womb and ovaries (which was found after the operation). Could this be contributing to the bleeding too?

Thanks a million for reading.

Re: Bleeding - 4 months on

Hi, I just wanted to say that I'm sorry you are going through all of this. The best thing to do is to talk to your doctor. Hopefully they can get to the root cause of the bleeding. I had a SAH in May. My cervix was left open though (no stitches). My doctor told me that eventually it will seal up on its own over time. Did they stitch your cervix up? The bleeding might be from the cuff.....possibly the stitches dissolving. The chemo treatment might also be delaying the healing, as it does impair or weaken the immune system. Are you taking a multi-vitamin to strengthen your immune system? Vitamin C supplements have also been proven beneficial to promote healing. Just a thought. I hope you feel better soon! I will keep you in my prayers.
