Re: Never heard of a bowel prep like this.

I didn't have any colon prep at all. Is that strange? I had a TVH on June 10th with Rectocele and Cystocele repair and TVT. I guess I will consider myself lucky.

Re: Never heard of a bowel prep like this.

Hi! Here are the tips I've received from the veterans at this stuff:
1. Move TV into the bathroom, along with sudoku and crosswords.
2. Use A&D ointment so you don't get irritated and sore.
3. Avoid acidic juices, like cranberry -- will sting your irritated bum.
4. Whatever you have to drink, get it ice-y cold, and drink it fast.
5. Keep crushed ice on hand, before, and after your surgery.

I have to drink Gatorade, so I plan to get 4 flavors. Based on reviews,
I will look for Rain- Berry, Frost - Glacial Freeze, Original - Fruit Punch, and Original - Orange. I'm not a fan of the stuff, so I view this as research. I'll be using these tips for my July 15 daVinci hysterectomy (uterine cancer). Best wishes to you!

Re: Never heard of a bowel prep like this.

I haven't gotten my instructions yet, but for my last C-section my "prep" was no food after midnight. I was allowed to have some crackers with water though because I needed to take my seizure meds in the morning.

I'm hoping it's similar this time. Don't mind the "clear" liquids stuff but I'm NOT doing an enema!
