Anyone else have a blood transfusion in surgery?

I was surprised when my surgeon told me my hemoglobin was at a 6 and I would need blood before surgery. I guess this whole thing has been a journey full of surprises. I thought I was just having bad period the last few years (my mom did too) and lived with it. Hearing that I have been functioning at less than half of myself for so long makes me grieve what I've missed these last few years. No wonder I was always so tired!

My hemoglobin was a 5 a few days before emergency surgery. It caused 2 strokes that were minor and I am just about fully recovered from them. I had 4 blood transfusions 3 days before surgery. I lost no blood during surgery.

My bloods were fine before surgery but I had a big blood loss during surgery - had a transfusion with 4 units and also meant surgery lasted 6.5 hrs instead of 2!! Recovered very well , 1 month of iron tablets now I'm back to normal

I had to have a blood transfusion due to my hemo being a 4.4. This is what caused me to have the surgery. Wasn't gonna go through that again.
