When will I have a normal digestive system again???

I had a TVH on August 1st with a bladder injury. I came home with a foley cath for 8 days and have had it out since Thursday. I am having little lingering pain and stamina is getting better each day. BUT I can not eat anything without one of two outcomes. Either my tummy is upset or doesn't work at all. The cath slowed my tummy resolving b/c who is hungry at all when you feel like you constantly need to pee. So I really didn't eat much for 10 days. Now I can only eat a handful at a time and my stomach cramps 2 hours after I eat....when will I feel normal again? My husband goes back to work on Thursday and my daycare babies start back next week. I can't be stuck in the potty for 15 minutes with my 2 kiddos and 4 extra here. They are all 3 and under!

Hi Missyjoteach, im so sorry to hear about the stomach problems. I can definiely relate, my surgery was on july 25th. The day i got out of surgery i could not eat or hold anything in my stomach for a whole week. They did not know what was causeing it, i had to have my stomach scoped and all they found was gasteritis. Then the day i was suppose to go home they gave me a super laxative, and i think that woke up my bowels. I got better from there, i think that maybe your bowels and stomach might not be woke up completly and running slow. You will get better but it takes time, make sure you are having BMs and passing gas very important. Wishing you super healing HUGS!!!!

Have you thought about trying a protein drink? I drank slim fast the first few days home because I didn't feel like eating and it seemed to help some.

Thanks for your replies. I found out after having to provide a sampel (EWW) that the antibiotic had stripped my bowel of the good bacteria. Probiotics and things are getting a little better slowly but surely.
