I ache all over 3 days post hysterectomy

3 days post op and I hurt all over. My shoulders and neck all the way to my toes... I think it is from using muscles that normally don't get used...
But on the positive my stomach feels pretty good.. lol

I ache all over too! Plus, I'm so weary, not physically, but mentally...my husband and 10 year old got the flu yesterday, so I've had to try and manage my son as well as me. I feel pretty helpless at the moment.

I ache all over 3 days post hysterectomy

I have had a similar thing.. Aching from neck, shoulders and upper back. Also around ribs / abs. Seems worse when I lay down.. Nurse said it was from the extra gas they insert during surgery and they couldn't really give me anything for it. Only had surgery yesterday so hoping it won't last.. I did wonder if a seated massage might help?

Re: I ache all over 3 days post hysterectomy

Could be from the gas, and perhaps also the position you were in during surgery (Trendelenburg, modified Llyod-Davis anything like that).

With laparo surgery, the gas they pump you up with presses against your diaphragm and affects the same nerves in your shoulders. Heating pad seems to be a go-to solution, as well as moving around, shifting positions.

Rest well!

I ache all over 3 days post hysterectomy

Last night I slept being propped up to about a 45deg angle rather than laying down and I really found it helped. My neck and shoulders feel less aching this morn.

Hope to go home today!!

You are most likely experiencing the gas being expelled from your body, my Dr tokd me to expect alot of pain in my shoulders because the gas they fill us up with during surgery gets trapped under the chest cavity and that is where it tends to be released. Take little walks around your house and use a heating pad and hopefully that will help.

Happy Healing!
