Re: Vaginal irritation - Benadryl?
If it doesn't get better, look into "Pelvic floor Dysfunction and Vulvadynia". I had those same symptoms and they were caused by holding the pelvic floor muscles tight which sends pain signals to the nerves in the skin internally and externally. Treatment is physical therapy and there are some medications for it. Also, I recently started taking Osphena and it has made a tremondous difference! Keep that in mind if the other things don't work. Best wishes!

Re: Vaginal irritation - Benadryl?
I take Benedryl for sinuses at night... seems benefits are diminished vaginal irritation. I've bought a lubricant to help during sex.

Re: Vaginal irritation - Benadryl?
Hi 50 The one thing that helped me enormously was to take acidophilus tablets which you take just one a day ,they are full of the good bacteria that kills off the bad bacteria bugs that cause the problems down below ,Istill take them 5months post op and have had no recurrant infections since I started taking them, well worth a try ,available at most health stores or online.
best wishes Jibby p xxx

Re: Vaginal irritation - Benadryl?
Glad to see this post has been helpful to so many. It has been a long time since I started the post. I never did try the Benadryl. I am still using the Vagifem which is now a lower dose than when I first started. I only use once a week. I also use Premarin cream. I should use once a week but use it more on an as I feel I need it basis. I did find the premarin cream used externally to be the most helpful in stopping the itch. As long as I continue to use my patch (I used Vivelle-dot until a month ago) and the Vagifem and the premarin cream as needed I am great. Any itchy or burning flareups use a little premarin cream and I am good. One thing I have noticed is that most of the time when I have a problem is when I have skipped a week of Vagifem and premarin. Low estrogen. I just switched from Vivelle-dot to the generic estradiol patch. And I love it. Works the same and saves me a lot of money. I do take probiotics and eat a lot of yogurt. Which doctor had said could help.
Wishing everyone well. Hope all find solutions to your problems.
