Have another question?? :)

I think everyone's different on this one. I lost 7.5 lbs just from the bowel cleansing the night before surgery! I suspect that's because things were so crowded in my abdomen that my BMs weren't as productive as they should have been.

My weight has fluctuated by about 3 lbs since the surgery but some of my closer-fitting clothes still don't fit because of the swelly-belly.

I had a TAH, kept ovaries so I'm not on hormones. I understand that hormones can have an effect on weight also.

I wish you all the best for a success surgery and recovery.

Hormones play a big part in that, so does your activity level. Some may tend to be unsure about beginning activites when given the ok from doc, afraid they'll tear something. It's easy to get used to pampering yourself.

I was worried about gaining weight because I'd already gained enough over the years. I started at a gym as soon as doc said ok, and I feel much healthier and much better, and though I haven't lost weight, I haven't gained any either. I'm seeing health benefits though. I've been able to cut back on my depression med (with doc's ok), and lowered my pulse rate from 72 to 64. My BP is normally anywhere from 120/70 to 130/64. I do notice toning going on and expect to see inches and pounds drop soon.

It depends on how determined you are to control your weight. You may find that you don't reach for the comfort foods as much as you did pre-surgery, because you don't have all that stuff to worry you later.

Have another question?? :)

I lost about 10 pounds in the month or so after surgery, but the first couple of weeks I didn't feel like eating much, I drank lots of water and juice though!

Once I got my appetite back I gained a little, but at 15 weeks my weight is a little less than it was the before surgery.

The hormones may have a little impact, but I think a lot of it has to do with inactivity and eating more than we need.
