Any thoughts about Lupron???

My doc has scheduled me to do laproscopy to get rid of my endo. He then suggests a Lupron treatment for 6 months afterwards. I haven't seen many good things about that, does anyone have anything good or bad to say about it???

I am scheduled for surgery on March 14 and go back to the doc on March 3 for pre-op stuff. And would like to be able to confront him about wheter or not I want the Lupron.

Lupron

I would never do it. Lupron has been associated with seizures in some women, and the seizures dont stop when they stop taking the Lupron. Its not worth it in my opinion. Also, I think I read somewhere that it is not really effective as used, but dont remember if that was for fibroid or endo.

Any thoughts about Lupron???

Hi
I've had two courses x 6 months of Zoladex (Lupron) for endo over a 3 year period. The first two implants were the worst. It made my pain worse and I had really bad headaches (so bad I needed morphine). The pain settled after that but then the hot flushes, memory loss and weight gain started. I was very glad to be rid of it in the end.

I had a lap straight after and it had shrunk most of the endo which was good. Unfortunately it all came back again about 6 months later. The second course I had two years later (you can only have one course every two years in Australia), I only had 4 injections as I couldn't handle the side effects and the HRT just made the pain worse. I guess it varies from person to person. At least I gave it a shot. Iam now having a hysterectomy on 4 March after trying absolutely everything. Basically Lupron buys you time, esp if you still want to have children. At least now I know what to expect when I reach menopause and I aint looking forward to it. Good luck!

Any thoughts about Lupron???

Amberstar,

I did a 6 month treatment with Lupron about 10 years ago. I did need to take a sleep aid at times and a mild antidepressant, but it did buy me about 10 years.

The Lupron treatment though was not enough in itself. I was on birth control pills for the first 7 years to control the level of estrogen so that it didn't get too high and was balanced with progestrone.

It was not an easy 6 months, but it was the best option presented to me at the time.

Take as much time as you need to make your decision. You can always reschedule your surgery if you need more time to learn about the treatment as well as research other possibilities.

Let us know what you decide.

say NO to lupron

Hey girls!
I'm new to the site but have reading your post everday now for a month. I'm have a TAH on Tuesday (YIKES) Anyway I have suffered from endo forever it feels like. My male DR. bless his beating heart recommended Lupron after finding my endo....it was TERRIBLE! I thought I was losing my mind! I called him crying about feeling terrible. Not only did my endo kill but I was really sick. He told me "I think you need to go to therepy" Needless to say I left him as a Dr. I haven't looked back since. Praise the Lord I have a great Dr. now. The advice I would give you is Do not take the Lupron. I don't know ONE person who had anything good to say about. It's bad stuff and it won't help. Even though my dr claimed that if Lupron didn't stop the pain then it wasn't endo. Wrong answer! You have to make the choice in the end but do your homework!!!!

Best wishes to you and hang in there! I'm walking in your shoes...until Tuesday! It's not a fun trip at all!

(((((((HUGS)))))))
