Did I over do it??
Today is my two week post up and I'm feeling worse than my release day. Had an LAVH and surgery went well. Days 2-4- I rested, walked slowly and slept a lot! Minimal spotting. Days 5 &6 went to, too many different stores on both days and was on my feet on almost an hour at a time. Day 7- was exhausted so I rested all day. Day 8- felt great! Cooked lunch and washed a few cups, by evening was in lots of pain. Day 9- was in a lot of pain and exhausted, layed in bed all day. Day 10- had to get up early since my entire family and I were part of a wedding, was sitting down most of the time, got home late. Day 11- was doing ok until I tripped and almost fell, that caused a lot of pain! Day 12- rested & cooked lunch, still lots of pain. Day 13- felt good, cooked lunch, washed dishes, did not feel great by end of day, tons of pain now. Today-day 14- stayed in bed all day because pain is pretty bad, feel sharp stabbing pains along with preassure, pain while emptying bladder and menstrual like cramps. I have my post op with my doc on Friday and will be disscusing all of this but wanted to get your guys' opinion....do you sisters think I might have over done it? Am I just over reacting? Thank u for letting me vent!!

Re: Did I over do it??
You've been a pretty busy gal since surgery. I had my surgery 2 days before you and never left the house til late last week, and that was for about 30 minutes. Try to rest and let someone else cook lunch between now and your post op. You don't want to undo all the good the surgery was supposed to do.

Re: Did I over do it??
I agree that getting lots of rest until your appt would be a good idea. If the pain gets worse I would call doc or go to er and have them call doc. Even we our "outsides" are looking well healed, we also had LOTS of work on the inside that also needs to heal. Best of luck to you, hope you are feeling better soon!

Re: Did I over do it??
@steph, way too much according to my physio chart. I was issued with a chart of doos and don'ts on the day of my discharge and what you did does not appear until week 6!!! What ever happened to don't lift anything heavier than a cup of tea & rest? I had my week 1 check up yesterday & when I said I had been sleeping most of the week the nurse said 'good - that is how you heal'
I agree - we may look well on the. Outsides, our insides need to get better too.
Please, take care, Gem

Re: Did I over do it??
I think you have over done it. The problem with LAVH is that most people feel great in just a day or two but still have a lot of internal healing happening. By day 3 after my LAVH I felt fine, but my husband forced me to follow Drs. orders of 2 weeks of doing NOTHING. So I did NOTHING for 2 weeks, except get waited on hand and foot. Then during weeks 3 and 4 I did a few shopping trips and church- but no cooking or cleaning. During weeks 5 and 6 I returned to my college grad classes and at week 7 I went back to work but still did nothing at home. Week 8 I started doing some stuff at home but had my husband and 14 year old son doing the bulk of the housework.
I really think that if possible you need to pull back some and try to take it easy. Many sisters have posted that "you only get one chance to heal right."
I hope that after a few days you get to feeling better.

Re: Did I over do it??
Hi Steph,
I am curious what your doc said. I also was somewhat busy and left the house a week after the op. I also had pain but some of it is normal and part of the healing process, at least that's what my doc said. The most important thing is not to lift heavy things. Walking around is , I think, not the issue. Your body will tell you when it is enough. I am in my third week and I still feel some pain when touching my belly.

Re: Did I over do it??
I had a LAVH on Sept 22nd. My doctor's orders were to do pretty much nothing for 2 weeks- I was allowed to go up the stairs only once per day- nno riding in the car, nothing. After the 2 week postop visit I was allowed to ride in car and go up the staris a couple of times per day- and do light walking. I go back for a 5 week visit and I'm hoping I can do more after that. I am not having hardly any pain any more. Just an occasional twinge or some tenderness if I've been out for a while. Mostly I just get tired. I think you may have overdone it a bit. Take it easy and talk to your doc!

yep, it sounds like you over did it. I'm guilty of it too. Let us know what the dr says and rest, rest, rest.

Re: Did I over do it??
Thank you so much ladies!! I greatly appreciate all of your responses! Yes, I had a feeling that I had over done it just a bit and I think I might be paying for those actions! I think that I might also have a UTI, so I'll be checking that tomorrow at my post op appt.
I have tons of support at home from my mom, 11 yr. old daughter and three brothers but the minute I felt better, it was just natural for me to get up and do things like cook.
Having that really important wedding was the reason behind being so active my first week of recovery but I should have rescheduled my surgery to either before or after but oh well, nothing I can do now. For the next 10 days I'll be just resting and taking it easy, no more cooking or cleaning! My mom is soooo mad at me for not listening to her! So, I promised I would stay out of the kitchen till I return to work on the 10/25 and even then she wants me to take it easy!
I didnt think it was going to be this hard to rest while feeling good. Now that I'm feeling so much pain, I have no other choice! I had even thought about going back sooner to work but not after all of this pain/discomfort.
I'm seeing my doctor tomorrow and I'll have to explain my activites and see what he says. Since yesterday, I've been resting tons, like I should have! I'll let you guys know what he said!!

Re: Did I over do it??
I was doing great until I lifted a box of books without thinking...yes, the lift restriction is in place for a reason and should be followed.
I have been on the go since day 3, and walking 2-3 miles daily now. All was going well until the lifting incident on Tuesday. I did not even walk yesterday - just laid on the couch most of the day.
