LAVH-10/5/10-kept ovaries-- help pls!

Hi everyone! I am miserable right now. Surgery went well. But I am all over the map emotionally...I cry for no reason. I am hot one second and cold the next. I just want to curl in a ball right now and shut the world out -- are any of these feelings "normal"? thanks

From other posts on here that I have read.... short answer is yes. Even though you kept your ovaries, the surgery puts them in "shock" so it's like they are there for a little while. Some of the other sisters can give you much more help in this area, but I wanted to let you know you weren't alone !

YES , you are very normal , It takes time post-op for things to even out! I had the same issues and am feeling better now! I also kept my ovaries and as my doctor explained , It takes time for everything to get used to it's new role and position and our ovaries are no exception to the rule! You WILL feel better , just hand in there honey! HUGS! Remember , We are HERE for YOU!!

Re: LAVH-10/5/10-kept ovaries-- help pls!

Hello,

I too had LAVH and kept ovaries in Nov 2009...I am almost two years post op. It is true that the ovaries go into shock, but each person has their own bounce back time, so don't worry right away. In other words, take time to heal for a while then see how you feel. I remember the crying bouts, but like the pain they eventually fade too. Just take the time to recover properly- this is a must if you want to feel better in long run. Message me if you have any questions, I've had four pelvic surgeries and hormone issues since I started cycling at age 13- honestly I cannot wait for menopause!! I hope you heal well, enjoy some creature comforts and avoid sad shows and movies- it helps
praying for you!!

Yes they are all normal. My ovaries went into shock & I had the night sweats & hot flashes until they woke up. Emotionally you went through a lot & your body is in shock. It just takes time to feel back to normal. You will get there. Best wishes.

Re: LAVH-10/5/10-kept ovaries-- help pls!

Thank you all so much. I have been feeling so alone b/c I don't know anyone else who has been thru this. I am 29 and have 2 children. My friends are all at a point where they are trying to have kids -- so no one understands what I am going through! I have had horrible, cronic pelvic pain for years which is what led me to the decision of a hysterectomy.

My husband is a "fixer" and wants to help but when he asks what's wrong I don't even know how to answer... so I just cry and shake my head. I am not good at asking others for help so I am probably doing too much now. I was at my kids soccer practice and game 3 days after surgery...i am nuts! I think it's all hitting me. The over doing it... the hormones... I am just a mess! Sorry if i am not making much sense right now.

I am not in pain anymore. That part is nice since I always felt pain! The only thing I feel is throbbing in my vagina ... I guess from healing?? More uncomfortable than painful.

Again, thanks to all why replied! I have been reading posts here for a while and decided it was time to join b/c I needed some support! Thanks for all the prayers too!

Oh yes, you need to not over do it or you can cause adhesions & scar tissue to be worse. This is the time to take care of yourself. Let your family take care of things. Rest up & I am sure you will feel better soon!
