Very emotional 2+ weeks post hysterectomy

Hi everyone

I am soooooooo emotional crying for no reason mood is up and down.

I do suffer from depression but this feels like something different. I didn't have my ovaries removed so I am confused as too why I am so emotional. The doctor said leaving the ovaries avoids menopause.

My incision is healing great. I had an open hysterectomy. I am physically feeling pretty decent other than being exhausted.

I am very concerned about my emotions. Is this normal ?????? Will it improve

Hello, Im sorry you are feeling out of sorts... You most likely are experiencing a surgical menopause...Despite retainig your ovaries, they could be snoozing & it can take time for them to adjust.. Some times, this can be the new normal.. Contact your Dr to further determine your options. Natural things like diet & supplements can be helpful. Omega fatty acids, fish, avocado, soy, nuts, seeds, + B12, B complex, C, primrose oil, magnesium.. theres more.

Fatigue is normal after surgery. It can also be a symptom of menooause, thyroid, etc... read 34 menopause symptoms. com or search this site for more info.

Re: Very emotional

This is completely normal. Although we retained our ovaries, their main blood supply, the uterine artery was cut off. Our ovaries are not quite functioning until they find or make a new blood supply. While they are doing that we can experience menopausal type symptoms. This is temporary as they establish the new blood supply. Hang in there.

I am right there with you sister! TAH on May 10th, kept both ovaries. And got weepy around week 3. Off & on with anxiety. I am week 5 today and it has lessened. I let myself have a really good cry the other night and it actually made me feel better.
I think it is just something we will cycle through.
I also found a good long talk with my friend helped - she just listened and by the end we were both laughing.
Hope things continue to improve for you! Happy healing!
