so many questions.....

If I have a hyster and leave the ovaries will I get cramps and bleeding? What if only one ovary is removed with the hyster? I'll be seeing my doctor on Tuesday and will be asking him for a hyster. I've had difficult periods my whole life (I'm 41) It is to the point now where the cramps and bleeding are so bad I cannot function. I cannot continue to call off from work every month. I've ruined countless clothing, sheets etc. I used to be able to use tampons....no more though....bleeding is too heavy and they have become very uncomfortable ( I don't understand why)....anyone else have this problem?
I want this all to be over with......no more bleeding and no more cramps............any info. would be greatfully appreciated.

There should be no bleeding as that is from the uterus. I believe most cramping is uterine cramping too, so those should be gone. Leaving the ovaries, you might have some ovarian pain, but it shouldn't be as bad as full menstrual cramping. You may also experience other PMS symptoms like bloating, moodiness, etc.

so many questions.....

Dear kellykel:

It's my understanding that removal of the uterus and cervix will stop the monthly cramping and bleeding. Do you have a diagnosis for your symptoms? Are you a candidate for a less-invasive procedure like ablation?

I hope you are able to find the right answers soon. I am sending huge cyberhugs
