Torn vaginal cuff @ 2 wk.post op

As anyone gone in for their 2 wk to find that stitches have torn and they now have a gap? Dr said it may heal on its own and to plan an 8 and 10 wk post op in addition to the standard 6. Of course if it doesn't heal..they will have to repair it. Please tell me someone has had it heal on its own. I don't want to go through this ALL summer.

If you do a search on the forums for "torn vaginal cuff" you can find other threads of women who have experienced this. I have heard some who have been told it might heal on its own. I am very sorry you are having to deal with this.

I too have had one of the stitches torn. While I'm not full recovery (my doctor said I'm just healing slowly) its getting better and I went to my dr for a follow up and she said I'm healing just right. I hope this helps. Hugs for you sister.

That's reassuring to hear! I know its a little TMI, but I have a horrible ooze that the Dr said would be normal until this hole closed itself. Did you experience this too? If so, how long till it stopped? Its so embarrassing.

Yeah I had the oozing too. There was a point where I wasn't bleeding much but the oozing was so bad I had to ware a pad. It's like a clear color for me but it was a lot. I am 4 1/2 post op and I still have it a little but not nearly as bad as week two or three. I noticed it started to get better right around 3 1/2 weeks post op. good news is it goes away. Bad news is you gotta deal with it a little longer. Hope this helps.

I popped a stitch about 4 weeks into my surgery and that put me in as a slower healer as well.

I have heard some Drs actually leave a small opening for drainage and that those will heal on their own. So if it is a small opening it maynot require extra surgery.

Was there any pain from the torn cuff? How bad was it?

I didn't have any pain at all with my torn cuff. I think you should see your doctor if you have pain.
