Throbbing Insides starting week three post op hysterectomy

So I am just starting my third week post-op. I had a partial hysterectomy, vaginal prolapse repair and a bladder sling. I am not in pain anymore but lately if I am up for awhile or even sitting I notice that my vagina starts throbbing. It is inside and really uncomfortable not necessarily painful. There is no bleeding or any extra discharge for that matter. It is just uncomfortable. Does it mean I need to rest and I have been up too long? Has anybody else experienced this? Should I be concerned?

Thank you.

Re: Throbbing Insides starting week three post op

I experienced the same uncomfortable feeling in weeks 1-3 if I had been sitting up for several hours. That uncomfortable vaginal feeling would go away if I laid down instead of sitting up. It's normal at this point, even though it was annoying because I didn't always WANT to go lay down, but I listened to my body and got through that point in my recovery.

Best of luck to you in your recovery. I feel awesome at 6 weeks and you will get there, too.

It is probably the vaginal swelling. My doctor reminded me it was stretched quite a bit.

What you are describing sounds completely normal to me and nothing to get concerned about in my opinion. The discomfort you are feeling is more than likely your body telling you to rest and take it easy. You will feel better and get stronger as times goes on and this vaginal sensational will more than likely subside.

Take care

Re: Throbbing Insides starting week three post op hysterectomy

So in listening to my body as I heal, how much walking were you all doing in your third week? I am up and around in the house pretty regularly throughout the day. But in regards to getting exercise, walking isn't that comfortable, not painful, but just makes me "aware" of all my healing inside. Do I just gradually increase my time spent walking to build up
Strength? Thank you sisters for any advice!
