Is this normal to be a yo-yo!

It has been 6 weeks from only my uterus being out and then had another surgery due to internal bleeding. then 2 weeks alter, got an infection due to a blood clot, so my recovery is not at all norm! Now, I am just plain down in the dumps! I was a fit runner before this drama and now I eat and eat and have put on almost 15 pounds! I was cleared to exercise at 2 weeks, so the exercise nut, I am walked ever y day for a hour to keep up my training for my half marathon in October, but then I got this infection. No, exercise due to intense pain! Finished my antibiotic and a bit better, but still feel like a truck has hit me! I am so tired of feeling like crap! I want the blaoted belly gone, pains to end, running back, and be my ole self. I go from anger, to sadness, to plain annoyance! I am starrting to question my doc and wondering if she should of not cleared me to walk so soon! I am sure this is all normal, but just wnat some input! I know I can drop the weight quick, but the no exercise is killing me. I go back tuesday for a full ulralsound to see if my clot and infection is gone and which is my 6 week post op appt too! I am scared too that it won't be healed. Then home stress too! I know it will all pass! Patience right?

Re: Is this normal to be a yo-yo!

Emperipal,
Under the circumstances of surgeries, blood clots, infections-- being able to stand upright is awesome and feeling like a yo-yo is "normal." Patience is one of the most difficult things to walk with. I believe walking after surgery is something that helps the healing take place faster. For me (also an inpatient fitness lover), I just keep reminding myself that in the big scope, the big picture of my life, that I can take this time off (it really is such a short time when looking at my life as a whole). I want to make my healing my priority so I can be running hard next summer and doing all sorts of outdoor things with my family. I experienced surgical menopause and lost all of my fitness endorphins all in one fell swoop and experienced such a hollow, empty, lack of feelings altogether. I am about 15 weeks post-op and started working out hard about 8 days ago. My muscles have sprung back very quickly and as I approach the 4-month mark, I consider myself to be deeply into my recovery, with Tiredness and insomnia being the last remains of my experience. Hang in there and know that you have your whole life in front of you and that your body will make a glorious comeback. I also ask myself, what would I say to my loved ones…. I would say, “give yourself this time to heal and get better”, why don’t we love ourselves enough to give this time to us for healing….
