Yipee! It's A Go!

I am breathing a mammoth sigh of relief right now.

The doctors here in British Columbia have just ended their strike this afternoon and my surgery will go ahead as scheduled on Tuesday! They had been cancelling even urgent surgeries (like mine and worse) in protest of the government's unwillingness to negotiate. Hard to believe right now, but, I actually remember a time when I thrived on living on the edge!

Today was my last day at work - everyone was incredibly supportive. Pre-op at the hospital, tomorrow a.m. My wonderful mother arrives from the other side of this vast country on Saturday and we'll have a couple of "healthy" days before she's required to become Lambie (her nickname) Nightengale. I haven't seen her since my grandmother's funeral almost exactly a year ago, so we'll have a great reunion. She is, without a doubt, one of my favourite people on the planet.

What a difference even 12 hours can make. This morning I was stressed beyond belief wondering if I should tell my mom to cancel her flight and tell work to put me back on the schedule. Not to mention thinking that I'd jinxed myself by celebrating (loudly) what I believed to be the very last period of my entire life.

Now, it's lookin' smooth as a gravy sandwich!

Just had to share my joy with my sisters.

Horray CeCe:
I'm happy that all is a go for you. Soon you'll be a princess, and I pray that all goes well for you as your big day approaches. Begin packing your bag for the castle. Best of wishes & look forward to hearing about your recovery. Many hugs & blessings.
