Had a TAH Now my Dr wants nothing to do with me

I had a TAH on Oct 5 2007, I had a horrible reaction to the HRT. I called my Doc, I told him I was having suicidal thoughts, I was freaking out on everyone, including my 3 yr old and 1 1/2yr old. This was not me. He told me "I don't know what to tell you" "Call your primary Care physican"! I have never felt so betrayed. Like he did the surgery and his job is done! I am 30 yrs old and had the TAH due to endo. I have felt relief from the surgery, but now other problems have arisen. I have no pain where it used to be, just every where else. My body feels like it has age 30 yrs in 6 mths. My mother has fibromyalgia and RSD. I hope I havent opened the door, my point is, how can the Doc do this. No HRT nothing, just I don't know what to tell you!! Be careful ladies!!! You just never know!!!

Wow I'm sorry that you are going through this. Have you tried contacting another doctor or your primary doctor? I would do this as quickly as possible so that you can get the help that you need. Do you have a copy of your pathology reports and patient file because you will need it to give to the other doctors?

I pray that you get some resolve soon.

I am so sorry that your doctor is treating you this way but you need to find someone to help you if he is not going to. Please call your primary care doctor asap and get help that you need. Your children need you to be well and you need to be well for yourself. We all care and are hoping that you find out the cause of your pain and bad feelings.

Please call for help tomorrow. I would also write a letter to that surgeon and let him know that he is a jerk--- but word it more nicely.

You should definitely contact your PCP as soon as you can and tell him/her what's happening to you with the HRT. I'm not on HRT but I have been seriously depressed/suicidal before (and am on medication for the rest of my life because of a chemical imbalance) so I can tell you that what you are experiencing is something that you need help with immediately. If you can't wait for help until you talk to your doctor then get someone who cares about you to come stay with you until you can speak to a medical professional, or call your local mental health line and be completely honest about the feelings you're having. You can also go to the ER. Do not go through this alone! I know from experience that when you feel as if life has become too much you cannot think clearly. Please forget about the surgeon for now. What matters is you and making sure that you are well again. Please get someone on your side in this ASAP and take care of yourself. You are needed! If you need to PM me feel free to do so.

WOW, i hope you send him a nice "thanks for nothing *******" letter. That is rediculous. Call your PCP and maybe they can talk to the doc and see what crawled up his butt?

Please do not put off getting another opinion, go to the ER, call your insurance and ask who they reccommend.

(((thebeansma))) Since your surgery was several months ago, your DR presumably released you from his care around the time of your six week checkup, right? You don't mention what kind of DR he is, but it's very rare to find a surgeon who is at all knowledgeable about HRT, let alone HRT in a patient who has a history of endometriosis.

You may not look at it this way just now, but you may come to see one day that he did you a favor by suggesting you contact your PCP. I would take the opportunity to seek out the counsel of a DR who is more experienced in prescribing HRTs, especially for women with endo.

In the meantime, if you are having suicidal thoughts at all, don't hesitate to get yourself to the ER. We don't want anything to happen to you!

-Linda

Had a TAH Now my Dr wants nothing to do with me

My surgeon is not my regular gyn and he told me to go back to my regular gyn or pcp. He specialized in gyn oncology (luckily I didn't have cancer) I did have severe endo that we didn't know about until he opened me up. Well, what a mess that was. I have recovered from the surgery well. My hot flashes are still terrible at times. Its really hard to work through them. I cannot have HRT because I had a heart attack unrelated to any gyn issues. Any way my PCP treated the hot flashes, anxiety and depressions issues in the beginning with an anti depressant. I switched to a few different ones now I am off of them altogether. However once in awhile I feel that I need something just to calm me down and relax me. Gosh I hope all goes well with you. I am going on 16 months out and it is getting better.

Hi Thebeansma

Most surgeons are just that - surgeons. They cut, they fix, they sew, they move on. That long term doctor patient warm, fuzzy relationship is not what surgical specialists do. That's why there are so many specialized fields in medicine. I know you'd like some assurance from him since he was the one who saw your insides and you feel like he knows what's going on in there better than anyone. Actually once the anatomical piece has been corrected, it's your pcp who can either treat you best themselves or send you to another specialist whose forte is in hormonal issues such as an endocrinologist. I'm sorry your chemical system is off. I will echo the wise words of Linda and say to you if you're feeling suicidal don't hesitate to get to an ER. They will get you some immediate care and send you in the right direction to the doctor who can best help you. Please keep us updated. I hope you're feeling better very soon.

S to you

Had a TAH Now my Dr wants nothing to do with me

Thanks everyone for your concern!! I did go see another Doc who put me on Klonipin which is really helping!! The funny thing is "The Surgeon" has been my ob/gyn for 6 years! He delivered both of my kids and new I had a bit of post partum with my first. He put me on Zoloft which made me nuts, I could hardly take birth control with out having an affect. Thank you again for your concern and please pass on your wisdom to as many as possible, some don't get help!!!!

Glad to hear that you sought help. Some drs are reluctant to give things and others just give them out too freely. I hope all goes well with you and sunny days are ahead.
