Re: how many have gallbladder problems post-op?

Thank you all for the responses! I finally had a HIDA scan last Wed. I see my doc this Wednesday for my 6-week check. She'll give me the results of my HIDA scan at that time. NICIssues...I, too, started having pain about 4-5 days after my surgery. It's not a stabbing pain like most people describe. I described it to my doc as feeling like a bruise under my ribcage (on the right) that will not go away. At one point, it would wake me at night if I rolled over. Eating almost always makes me nauseous and when they injected me with the solution during my HIDA scan that makes your GB contract, I thought I would hurl (sorry) almost immediately...until the tech reminded me I had nothing in my stomach to come up

NCIssues...I would definately mention it the doc. I honestly thought it was nothing because I wasn't associating the pain with the nausea. My doc made the connection (I guess that's why they make the big bucks...haha). Wish me luck!!

I'd also love more feedback. Your info so far has been invaluable.

Re: how many have gallbladder problems post-op?

I had laproscopic hysterectomy on December 23rd and also had my gallbladder removed at the same time. I am doing okay, super tired but not too much pain. I am eating a no fat diet and only a few ounces at a time. I am glad I did the surgeries at the same time so I only have to recover once. Wishing all my new sisters the best of health!

Re: how many have gallbladder problems post-op?

UPDATE: My HIDA scan results came back and my doc sent me for a surgical consult. After I was informed that no amount of anything I changed would help my gallbladder...it would never get better, and only get worse, I am left with little choice but to have it removed. Because of my LAVH recovery, the surgeon is going to have me wait another 4 weeks to give my body a little more rest. Feb. 5, I go back in for gallbladder removal, and out of work another 2 weeks after that.

I'm running out of organs to have removed...and I'm starting to look like a roadmap on my belly!!!

Re: how many have gallbladder problems post-op?

Good luck on your surgery. I too went from no scars to a roadmap. I now have 7 scars on my abdomen. 3 from the hyst and 4 from the gallbladder. I'm glad to hear that the HIDA scan found the issue for you. I think you will feel so much better once you've had the surgery. I had the same reaction you did to the scan. Again I wish you luck and speedy recovery.

Re: how many have gallbladder problems post-op?

Thanks gals. Shena...they are going to use the same bellybutton incision (he said he has to make it bigger though), but really, at this point...it doesn't really matter! I'm just looking forward to a time very soon when I'm all healed Be well sistas!
