I have a question

I keep reading about how you can't bend over and movement is limited afterwards.
I know it takes a while to have a bowel movement but when things start moving again are you able to wipe yourself?
If I will need someone to do it for me, I will need to adjust my mental space in advance.
Please advise.

That was a thought I had too. It took me about 3 days to be able to have a bowel movement and although my abdomen was tight,I still managed to wipe myself.

No you can wipe yourself. And really I had a TVH with no bending restrictions from my Dr so I didn't go by HS guidelines on other bending either. They are general and not applicable to every type surgery, but for all the types you can still wipe yourself. Good luck with your surgery.

Don't worry, you will be able to wipe yourself.

I had TVH with anterior and posterior repairs and I was OK.

I made it easier for myself by using a peri bottle regularly to keep clean.

I had a TAH and that was one of my concerns, too!! I had no problems lol.

You'll be fine. One thing though, in my bathroom the toilet roll holder is back to the side of the toilet, had to keep the toilet paper on the side of the bath which meant I didn't have to turn. Anything that makes life easier

Believe it or not that was one of my biggest fears as well. I was talking to some co-workers (my best friends) and told them my biggest fear other than the pain was not beeing able to wipe my own butt. My father is going to be my primary support so I feel I have some valid concern. I really did not want to be like my 3 year old nephew yelling from the bathroom "somebody come wipe me". Thanks for the info.
