4 Weeks Pre-Op and too Much to Think About

I'm 4 weeks pre-op to the day 2/17. I'm already starting to have a hard time sleeping. As soon as I lay down in bed I start thinking about all the things I need to get done before I go. I think what's exaserbating the situation is that I'm going home to GA for the suregery and will be away from my DDs and DH for 2 weeks (the longest ever). DH will be there for the surgery but is flying home the next day. I feel like I'm in the "nesting phase"; time to clean out closets, straighten up the utensil drawer, what do I do about hrt, etc., etc. Everyday something else pops into my head that needs to be done or taken into consideration before I go. Did or do any of you feel this way? What are you doing to ease the swirling black hole of thoughts and concerns?

4 Weeks Pre-Op and too Much to Think About

I'm doing the same thing. I just started making a list of things I need to take care of & mark them off as I go. That has really helped me. I also have a list of questions for my doc which I'll be seeing this Thursday.
It's kinda funny how we all get in a "nesting" phase.

4 Weeks Pre-Op and too Much to Think About

I am about 2.5 weeks from my surgery date on Feb 6th. I feel the same way. I cleaned out the attic this weekend so I could put away the Christmas stuff (of course, I'm still paying for it now-so don't overdo it). I am making lists of what I need to do, get from the store, and what chores my DDs get to take over. It helps me to make lists, it makes me feel more in control of the situation!

I'm sorry you'll be away from your DDs and DH. Are you staying with family after your surgery?

Take a deep breath and relax! I hope you have a smooth surgery and quick recovery

4 Weeks Pre-Op and too Much to Think About

I was scheduled for my surgery last Fri. the 16th. after 5 hours in the pre-op I was cancelled.
I thought I had everything done and ready. So, now I have another week to get things done. I am so glad because now I have the chance to prune my roses and clean up the yard, something I won't be able to do for quite a while.
Yesterday in Oregon it was 68 degrees, how awesome is that. It was so perfect to work outside. Today should be the same and hopefully I can finish the roses, I have 21 rose bushes and it takes forever. Yesterday I punctured myself twice and I am so mad at myself, that's alll I need is an infection. I am also pretty stiff. You can't win.
I am trying to put a few things in the freezer and just keep on top of.
I made some super duper bran muffins and cookies for afterward. If I don't have this surgery soon I will have eaten them all. Anyway, they are handy to eat and will really keep things moving along.
Happy cleaning!

4 Weeks Pre-Op and too Much to Think About

I was the same way. My surgery was scheduled two months in advance, so I had lots of time to experience this. First, I tried to always remember that the time was a gift, as it gave me a chance to wrap my mind around things. Second, I kept a notebook by my bed. Every time something popped into my head (often at 3 in the morning when my husband would wake me up as he was headed to the bathroom), I simply wrote it down. As for nesting, I wasn't able to do this as much as I would have liked due to my pain levels and the stress of work and the holidays. But I felt the same way, even though I wasn't able to act on it.

Has any one started taking valum or zanex or sleep aids to help?

4 Weeks Pre-Op and too Much to Think About

Mine is scheduled for two weeks from today and I've had six weeks to think about it since I found out the date. I've always had a hard time sleeping, but have noticed it more than ever. I have resorted to taking Tylenol PM's on occasion. I've started gathering a few things to take to the hospital. Some things I never would have thought of, but the ladies here have wonderful suggestions!
