Re: Upcoming hysterectomy 1/23: Ovaries vs No Ovaries

One thing you might consider is getting an opinion from another hormone specialist. That way you might get a better idea of what options you may have. Remember no one can predict how you will react to HRT with no ovaries. Some of us have a difficult time finding balance even at 2+ years after hysterectomy. Don't trade one set of problems for another. On the other hand, if your ovaries are diseased, that may be a good reason for removing them.

Re: Upcoming hysterectomy 1/23: Ovaries vs No Ovaries

I would get a second opinion from another hormone doctor, keep the ovaries. I kept my ovaries due to the fact that my gyno didn't want me on hrt. He trys to not put his patients on hrt due to the increase of breast cancer. Every doctor and patient are different, make a list of questions to ask now, you don't want to regret taking your ovaries because you can't get them back.

Good luck with whatever decision you make.

I kept mine but they are clearly not working any longer. Within a year I have started menopause.
