Go home the same day?

Hey girls! My doc says it's possible to send me home the same day to cut down on costs for us. This makes me nervous. Has anyone felt good enough to venture home the same day of their surgery, and if so, how did it go? Thanks, everyone. Love this place. So much love and support

My doctor told me I might get to go home the same day, too. Which surgery are you having? I'm having the LAVH on Friday.

i had dvh and i wasnt feeling good enough to go home the same day.

I was quite happy to spend the night and low i was under nurse care. I had my surgery at around 2 and went home the next day at 5. Since you really don't know how you will feel, if you would have peed and been able walk around, don't worry about the cost .. Worry about being well in the best environment for you.

I would have gladly gone home the same day but wasn't done surgery until 3:30 in the afternoon. If you can be scheduled for the first surgery and have no complications it is very likely you could go home the first day.

I had a TVH and I kinda wish they would have let me come home the same day. I was feeling pretty good but that was from the morphine pump. I have heard of ppl gping home the same day, i think it has to deppend on the person and your pain.

I went home the same day as my davinci hysterectomy. My surgery was at 7:30am and I was home in my bed by 4:00pm. I moved slowly with help from my husband, but I never had a moment when I thought I might have been better off spending that night in the hospital. I was very careful to take my pain meds right schedule. I would suggest writing down what time to take your meds and I did wake myself up during the night to take them as directed. It worked very well for me. I believe I slept better at home than I would have in the hospital.

With the right help, it can be done.

Thanks, ladies. That helps. I was wondering if it was radical to try and go home the same day, but it sounds quite doable in certain situations.
