LSH recovery time?

I'm having an SLH - well, I think that's the acronym - it's a partial laparoscopic hysterectomy, keeping cervix and ovaries. I'm wondering if anyone out there has some stories to share? Specifically regarding recovery time/experiences?

I'm also wondering if I should take anything to help, pot-op? I'm not into HRT (and possibly won't be a candidate for it, keeping my ovaries) but would like advice on any supplements people have found helpful, especially if these hot flushes continue! I had a shot of Lupron and it's put me into premature menopause.

Thanks.

LSH recovery time?

Hi CatWoman44,

It sounds like you are having a LSH from your description. I had my LSH 2 yrs. ago an I am still very pleased with my surgery results. I am very glad I was a candidate for the less invasive hyst.

Here are two LSH links for your research:

I too did lupron. I had (3) shots in pre-op to shrink my fibroids enough for surgery. My temporary menopausel symptoms ended shortly before surgery.

Best wishes with your upcomimg surgery date.

LSH recovery time?

I am 5wks LSH post op today and all I can say is I really feel great. My recovery time was really quick. I felt like my self in about 2 1/2 wks. Listen to your body, follow your doctors orders and don't overdo it.

LSH recovery time?

Thanks DKS88! I intend to do just as you say - listen to my bod and not overdo it. I'm on the clock slightly, having to get back to school and start classes, but there are ways around that too, shoudld I not feel up to it. I had my pre-op today, so it's all seeming more real, and we're counting down until Thursday. And thanks to this site I also knew ahead of time which supplements etc to stop a couple of weeks prior, otherwise it would've been too late! Thanks again.
