Am I not looking in the right places?

Hi,

I have a technical type question that I have been unable to find an answer to.

If one or both ovaries are left behind, what are they attached to?

Do they just float around in your pelvis?

The answer could be here somewhere, I just haven't been able to find it.

Thanks.

Judy

Am I not looking in the right places?

Hi Judy,

The ovaries are attached to ligaments which are secured in the abdomen to other structures (mainly ligaments) by internal dissolving sutures. They're not just floating loose.

Am I not looking in the right places?

Thank you Shashi for the information.

I was wondering if anyone knew.

I have tried to find this on various websites so that I could read more about it.

I asked my dr the very question

Everything is held in place by tissues, ligaments, everything is attached to something, but yes, it seemed odd to me at first as well and even feels somewhat like things are moving around a bit after surgery, but no, it's all in place. all the best
