4 weeks out today

Need help from my sisters. First, I'll admit, I'm not the most patient woman in the world but I really did expect to feel physically better, mentally also. I felt better mentally a few days after my surgery than I do now. My legs are not hurting as bad, but they are still quite painful after walking and I have to have something for pain which I dislike very much. I'm starting to have some stabbing pains rectally and around where my ovaries and uterus were when I've done simple things like taking towels out of dryer and forbid it if I try to get the towels out of the washer. It hurts to open bottom drawers in the fridge and to open the bottom drawer of stove. I feel like I've actually pulled something inside when I use these muscles. I had lots of adhesions and wonder if this can be causing my pain. I also had a uretheral sling (TVT). I went in for my 2 weeks checkup and he gave me the okay to drive, but I didn't feel safe at driving due to my leg pain. When I finally drove this past Monday, it actually hurt and I had to take something when I got home. I drove a short distance and didn't even get out of the car. The more I walk, the more I hurt. I felt I should heal better and this is keeping me blahed out all the time. I didn't even have an open incicion, only the lap sites. Any insight from my sisters would be encouraging.

Blessings,
Rose

Rose, first off, I'm so sorry that you're experiencing the pain you are. It's so hard to spend so much time recovering and still feel pain. You are making progress, though. Hang in there!!

I'm four weeks out tomorrow and feel exhausted all the time. My swelly belly is huge and I actually feel worse now than in week 2, but nothing specific in terms of sharp pains as you described. Have you called your doctor to ask if those are expected? I didn't have the bladder work, so not sure if they're connected with that.

Hugs...

Rose,
Sorry you are still in pain. I will be 5 weeks on Friday and I feel the same way. Tried driving Sunday and OMG I had to take tylenol #3 when I got home, was in tears. My lower back started hurting yesterday and the stabbing pains where the ovaries, appendix, gallbladder, etc were started last week. Don't diminish your surgery. I have a 12 in incision and 4 lap sites and the belly button lap hurts more anything! I was told no bending down to open drawers, pick things up, etc until 6 weeks. My sliding glass door also gets me pretty bad, are you opening windows or anything? I was feeling so much better and have told DH and friends that I feel worse this week than going into week 3. I am with you sister. Hang in there and try to remember to watch what you doing when you feel "good". That is when I hurt myself. When I am hurting I am careful. Hugs and feel better soon!

hi i am 8 wks post op and i had the same kinds of problems and still do have pain when i use the bathroom or bend to much.my doc told me that when the make the lap ins that they cut through 3 layers of muscle so it takes much longer to heal from the inside out.that is why we contiue to have those deep sharp pains.i also had a 6 inch ins vag. it is very discouraging to keep having pain for so long post op.i hope and pray that your recovery gets better in time.
