Hyster63, Thanks for the idea of hugging a stuffed animal-- I would have never thought of it. I have a nice squishy teddy bear that is going in the car for the ride home!!!

Re: Scheduled for Mon Mar 1st....I am terrified!!!

I think having any surgery should come with many questions. I too had many many questions about my needing surgery. In my case I was diagnosed with uterine/edometrial cancer. I was told there were other options(because I asked) but my doctor said that the sucess rate was very small, and I had a high chance of my cancer returning. I did not want to deal with that again down the road, so I opted to have the hysterectomy. I am so GLAD I did, I have been feeling so much better since my surger. I had been bleeding so badly for years during my periods that I became anemic and was fatigued all the time. Now I have more energy and have been feeling great. I agree its not for everyone and I think you should always question if its right for you, but don't be scared out of doing it for the wrong reasons. I being a woman of faith found my peace in knowing that God was in control of all things.

1bingoqueen, I am so glad to hear that your surgery went well and that you are home and comfortable. I completely agree with you 100%!!!!! The day of surgery was great, and I too, was joking with everyone before. Recovery isn't all that bad....just take it easy and do what your dr. tells you. Listen also to your body...it well tell you when enough is enough and when it's time to take a nap

Continue on your road to recovery!!!!!

PB&J... Did the embolization not work, or did you just decide that you wanted the TAH?

Re: Scheduled for Mon Mar 1st....I am terrified!!!

dedmurphy,

The UAE did not work, for two reasons. During the the procedure my artery seized up and the radiologist could only do one side. They told me to see how I felt in 3 months and if I didn't feel any better...I could have it done again. I never had any relief and for months I put it out of my mind. In Feb; I started hurting and my belly was huge(5 month preg). I went to my OBGYN and I found out that I was never a candidate for the procedure because my fibroids were too big. So, I only had one option..and that was the TAH.
It's almost been two weeks since the surgery---I'm feeling good. Am I glad that I had it done....most defintely!!!!
If you have any other questions...I'm here!!!! And feel free to inbox me also!!
