had a hematoma, now having large clots since hysterectomy

Hello!!! I Had a Laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy on February 20th 2014, everything was going good and I was resting as per doctors orders and then on Feb 27th, exactly a week after my surgery I started having such severe pain that I couldn't stand any longer so I went to the hospital, upon further investigation they noticed that I had a 7mm long hematoma that could be infected, so they sent me home with some good pain killers and a 7 day dosage of antibiotics, about 3 days after that the hematoma must have burst and I started to bleed very heavily, doctors said it was normal, I am now into my 3rd week of recovery and still bleeding quite a bit, from the hematoma but I was laying down just now and I had to cough and when I did, I felt something come onto my pad so I went to the bathroom and out came a really dark red and fairly large clot or something, so I phoned my gyno and of course they are closed until tomorrow, I am just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, is this normal or should I head to emergency and see whats going on?

I too had a hematoma found at the three week mark. I had begun to feel bad (fullness, yucky overall) after I had shown positive progress, then began spotting, which turned into passing large clots (size of large silver dollars). CT confirmed the hematoma, which was expelling thru the vaginal cuff stitches. My dr said this was a normal way to rid the blood. crazy to think such large amounts can gey thru such small holes! I hope this helps
