6 weeks post hysterectomy: Upset tummys?

does anyone find that food they used to eat with no issues now upset your tummy?

My husband treated me to fish and chips and it went straight through me. Then tonight he made me a lovely black bean stir fry. It was a little bit peppery, again went straight through me.

Also find my bowels are very active am going up to 3 times a day, not soft, just normal and I don't get much notice. Holding on fine, it's only my waterworks I am having problems with. Can't feel my pelvic floor very well and it's causing problems but it's just the bowel problems am asking about.

Re: Upset tummys?

Yes, it took about 6 months before I could eat foods I liked before, mainly fiber foods like broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, refried beans, etc. Thankfully now I can with out the pain.

Could be your stomach flora is really messed up. Try eating yogurt (if you like it, I don't) or a good probiotic. That might help with the bowels.

You are the odd one - most of us suffer constipation problems for a while. I know after my husband had surgery in the 90s for reflex, he now has to go within a half hour of eating.

Re: Upset tummys?

Today is 1 year since my hysterectomy. Your question so hits home with me. I had trouble eating a lot of things after my hysterectomy. For the first 2 months, I seemed to have chronic nausea. On the plus side, it was the easiest 30 pounds I ever lost and I have not regained it.

The nausea abated some, but it seemed the semi-starvation and return to almost normal eating caused my gall bladder to be unhappy. I ended up having that out in January. Once that was out, it took another 2 months to be completely nausea free. I currently have no issues with foods other than what affects acid -reflux. yay!

I have diabetes and while it was under good control, my healing process was slower than I think is typical.
