Haematoma on the right side

I have just had the stiches removed and the nurse agreed that I might have pulled an internal stich on the right side

I have got this lump, just between the surgery scar and my apendix scar. She said they probably would not do anything, but if it doesn't go away in the next 2 weeks (I shall be 4 weeks post-op by then), to go back to the Doctor.

Anyone else suffered this?

Haematoma on the right side

Have they actually diagnosed a hematoma, or is it just suspected?

I had a large hematoma/seroma along my incision line, and they waited for a long time to see if it resolved on its own. This is what they often try first, because it can cause more problems (like infection) to try and deal with it than to simply leave it alone to reabsorb.

If you're in pain, I would call the doc and let him/her know. Hematomas can be very painful.

Thanks very much for your reply.
There has not been a diagnosis, yet. The nurse only suspected as much.

What happened to you, then?

Haematoma on the right side

Well, my hematoma wasn't even diagnosed until I was 7 months post-op. I just thought I was healing slowly....

My hematoma was very large -- it held over a pint of fluid. When it didn't resolve after a year, they removed it in another surgery.
