MY Dr. used a new TOOL

I had my first post op appointment today. I asked the Dr. why my recovery has been so easy since my surgery was a very difficult one. He said, since he has been using the "GYRUS PLASMA KINETIC SEALER" he has noticed that the recovery time and pain amount was significantly reduced in his patients. He was actually quite proud that a little "Powdunk" Dr in Laredo Texas was using this device to really good results. SO, ask your Drs. about it, maybe it is an option for you.
I have to say, my C-sections were worse and I feel really good. Dr. said, I can drive when I am ready, have sex no earlier than next week, and I can exercise my arms and legs with no abdominal strain NOW and I am exactly ONE week post op. Good luck to all the upcoming princesses...you'll do GREAT!
Kisses

Yes, it is instead of stitches and staples. I have no stitches anywhere inside or out and no staples either. Dr. explained it like this...when they do an operation, they clamp, cut, then stitch, clamp cut stitch. It pulls more and takes longer. With this new device he said it is almost like a "seal a meal" gadget for your kitchen. He places the gadget around the area he wants to separate and (think of your first two fingers like a pair of scissors) when you close the scissors the gadget burns the edges together and then he removes the cyst or uterus or whatever he was trying to separate. He did everything inside me that way. Including my vaginal cuff. It is called a plasma kinetic sealer. I asked because I wanted to tell all you ladies. Now, as for my recovery. It has been one week exactly. I had surgery on the 17th at 7:30am, was in my room by 11:30am, I had an IV and a catheter. My meds were limited to my IV and I was getting something equivalent to a motrin. At 3pm, I asked nurse for something a little stronger and I got one naproxen. At 7pm, I got up to walk...did five laps around the castle halls. Slept intermittenly during the night, but at 7am I got up BY MYSELF to walk when Dr came in. He took out the catheter and IV and told me I would be going home that night. At 6pm, I took one more "motrin" and at 7pm, I was on my way home. At home, I took one naproxen and slept straight 7 hours. The next morning I had a bm (loose because I put flax seed in my oatmeal, so no pain) AND while I've had some minor gas pains, I kept moving and in total have only had 3 naproxen since I've been home. NOW today I took a shower, made my breakfast, went to post op, took kids to store, and went out to eat. Tonight I am a little sore, but not enough for any pain meds. Dr. told me since he started using this device my recovery is normal!!! Sorry this is so long, but I am really passionate about this, if it could help anybody else like it did me....geez.
please pm me if you need any more info.

This just blows my mind away. Of course I have no experince of what "GYRUS PLASMA KINETIC SEALER" is like, but to release you to all those things so fast seems unreal to me. If it is so new, and I understand new things come out all the time, how do they know the long term effects will be? Hope I don't come off as too big of a wet blanket.

I truely hope for the best for you, but this is still major surgery and hope that you don't have any relapses.
