Dont want to cough or throw up, what to do ?

So what do you do when your household gets sick, I have one with cough and cold virus and one with stomach virus. I am beginning to cough and believe me it hurts! What do I do, just brace myself? I have tried pushing a pillow tight to my stomach as I cough and I am using cough drops, also I have Lysoled and bleached the bathroom. Any suggestions?? I dont really want to cough or throw up!!

If Tylenol works for you and you aren't taking other pain meds that would conflict with the Tylenol, "Benelyn all in one" works wonders for me in terms of coughing, sore throat, fever, etc. I tried the pillow trick but it didn't seem to help much. I also tried to drink water when I felt the tickle announcing a cough. Hope this helps!

Start taking chewable vitamin c as soon as possible at least 1000 mg. I am post op of 6 days and my lil nephew was sicker than anything coming to visit. I pop those bad boys 2times a day and havr managed to stay health so far. This is what the pharmacist told me...good luck!

Insist on hygiene! It won't help for you to hit the bathroom with lysol if other members of your household are not observing the basics like handwashing, covering their coughs, etc. Don't share towels or bed linens and launder them frequently. Don't share glasses, dishes or silverware. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and all that.

Re: Dont want to cough or throw up, what to do ?

Thanks everyone for the tips, I am trying to keep them in there rooms as much as they possibly can, and entertain them with movies. They are little, so it is a constant..."Cover your mouth, wash your hands" thing. I will definitly get some Vit C and try the water before the tickling throat.

Myotis- I think I have been so concerned about the bathroom because I have been having a urinary issues since surgery and I have to have that room as clean as possible because I am self cathing in there and it seems like my most time is on the couch or in the restroom. LOL

Re: Dont want to cough or throw up, what to do ?

Do all that you reasonably can to stay healthy although I know its hard being surrounded by family members that are sick. Take Vitamin C, wash your hands regularly and don't touch your face at all with your hands. And keep reminding your family to cover their mouths when they cough and to wash their hands regularly as well.

Keep that pillow nearby to hold against your tummy for when you feel the need to cough.

Hope everyone gets well soon and that you don't get sick.
