bowel problems

Hi ladies, I have been coming to this site for awhile now but never posted myself. First, want to thank everyone here, this site is great. I have fianally made the decision to go ahead and have my hyster done. Awaiting schedule. Just wondering if any of you ladies had problems with the bowels? I suffer from IBs, chronic constipation and general pelvic pain and hoping that alot of this gets better after the surgery?? I have histroy of endometrious stage IV , adhesions and possible adenomyosis without the heavy bleeding. Just alot of pain, inflamation and big boggy uterus. I have had 7 laparoscopies over the years and several surgeries for uterine polups. Recently had my gallbladder out and had a kink in bowel that was caught up on the adhesion.

YES! I have chronic constipation. My uterus is the size of a 12 week pregnancy due to adeno. It is tilted and laying back on my lower bowel. My gyno says that will slow ya down good. I am also hoping I can get some relief with my hysterectomy. Good luck to you.

bowel problems

Thanks for the input. I have a history of adhesions also and both my GI doc and surgeon from gallbladder removal feel that my gyn problems are the root of all my bowel problems! I sure hope so, it has gotten really bad of late. I had to have a colonoscopy done recently and after drinking the entire bowel prep it took almost 9 hours to start working, I was in agony!! I currently take miralax powder mix daily and still have problems, yuk!! desal26

Milk of Magnesia works best for me - and not the pills but the liquid. I don't like having to live on laxatives, but MOM is not a stimulant laxative so it won't cause the dependence of a lazy bowel.

Yes, Mom works for me too but I had the taste, almost throw up when I do take it. Miralax is also non stimulant however it takes several days to work on average about 3 days.... but it is does not have any taste to it and I mix it with lemonaide or gatoraide and just drink it. I am hoping for regularity on my own after surgery!! Thanks, desal26

bowel problems

I had TAH/BSO due to endo. I also had severe bowel problems which were diagnosed as IBS. I'm just 3 weeks post-op, and once my bowels started working again I noticed a huge improvement! It continues to get better each day. For the first time in 10 years I can go with little or no pain. What a relief! I hope you have the same result. Best wishes for an uneventful surgery and recovery!

Thanks so much for the encouragement!! the more I read and listen to others the more I know I am making the right decision. Everyone keeps telling me that I will wonder afterwards why I waited so long!! So tired of all the stomah ailments and endo problems... thanks again.
