Movie theater

I'm off to the castle on Wednesday. I'm off work for 6 weeks so kids are happy. They are wanting to go see new Harry Potter movie. How long post-op will I feel up to this. Not very strenuous I know, but the closest movie theater is 45 minutes away and those HP movies tend to be quite long

Re: Movie theater

Can't help with your question but I see we go on the same day. 7:30am for me. You? Extremely scared.

A side note-- took my kids to see HP 7.2 midnight opening night. It was GREAT. Worth the 3d too!

Molucy -

For me it would have been around the 4 week mark. My DH and I were able to drive to a city 90 minutes away and sit through a concert. We had the tickets prior to my surgery. I also had tickets for a horse show to go with my great nieces for 1 week after my surgery and that was in town. I had to pass on that one it would have been too exhausting.

Make sure that your children understand that this isn't a vacation. You will be healing and you will need your help. They may think it is fun and games and mom will be able to do things with them when you will need to rest and will need them to pitch in.

Re: Movie theater

Hospital is supposed to call tomorrow evening to let me know when to show up. I do know I'm the first one that day so should be very early. Don't know I'm all that nervous yet. Work has kept me busy, but I'm sure my nerves will be shot by tomorrow night.

As for HP, up until two weeks ago I hadn't even watched the first movie! The kids want to go to universal next year so I told th I'd sit and watch them to play catch up. Well, I'm officially hooked now. Went out to buy Deathly Hallows book to read while recovering before we go see it.

Re: Movie theater

Thanks tauruslady. My kids are teenagers and are quite self sufficient so no worries there. They are anxious to watch the movie though and I'm sure I'm going to have a bad case of cabin fever

Re: Movie theater

I loved the Harry potter books and movies. I had my surgery July 14th and I went to see Harry potter about 2 weeks after my surgery. It wasn't too bad sitting in the theater, it just depends how well you tolerate the car rides, for me the car rides were rough for like the first week to week and an half. Good luck! And enjoy your book!

Re: Movie theater

My surgery is August 9 and my only goal during recovery is to rewatch all the Potter movies before I see the new one.

Re: Movie theater

I felt well enough on day 3 to go sit and watch a softball game. We saw Harry Potter during my second week and had no problem, the seats were nice and cushy. I had the DaVinci LaVH and the ladies who have the robotic surgery seem to have an easier time healing. I hope your surgery and healing go smoothly!

Re: Movie theater

I would have been ready at 1.5-2 week mark. My cabin fever was OUT OF CONTROL so I probably would have been willing to deal with pain. LOL, just kidding. The first 2 weeks I was more tired than anything that would have caused an issue.

Re: Movie theater

Make sure to take a pillow in the car to hold what will be your swelly belly, the jiggles of the car are very uncomfortable. I am still using a small pillow that I seat belt in when I am driving or riding and I am almost four weeks post op.
