Anyone else have hyster due to PID?

I had massive Pelvic Inflammatory Disease caused by my IUD.

I am new to the boards and still reading the posts, but I haven't seen anyone else who has had this problem...

I didn't have PID or use an IUD myself, but I know there are a couple of good links about the relationship between them in our Resources directory, in the Hysterectomy Options and Alternatives section. That was exactly the reason I had to have mine. It went very far in the infection, my stomach was all swelled up and the pain was intolerable, they actually thought I had ovarian cancer.

Mine was for PID and a tuboovarian abscess. PID and abcess was caused by a minor gynae op. Appendix was affected too by the time I came to surgery.

Yes, I too had a LAVH (in April 05) due to PID. I had a burst appendix age 16, then had 5 laparoscopies and 2 laparotomies to divide adhesions since then, now 38yrs. Since having the LAVH; now 3 1/2mths ago, I feel sooo much better! Glad to hear there's someone else out there with this condition! Cheers Amanda

Hey Deb! I'm in Portland too, I'm actually located in LO! I have had PID in the past, but I don't think that this was the cause of my hyst. It was the crop 'o fibroids that were getting out of hand.
