confused which ovary came out

Okay my gyn/surg told my family what all was done after surgery, I barely saw him after my surgery.

My family told me what all he told them, and that he did also have to remove my ? ovary. Well when I asked them what ovary and they all said we are like 95% postive he said left.

Okay well yesterday I get in the mail from my docs office stating under other comments uterus right tube and ovary are normal. Actually only this was on the card .

Well I feel pretty dumb right now. Does this mean that it was my right ovary that was taken out not my left, and that my right tube was taken out too, because I wasn't even told that a tube was removed.

That is what I am think because on this is my uterus is also mentioned and I know it came out. And wouldn't it say that they are normal because they were tested , for what? after they were removed.

It sounds like it was your right ovary and tube that was removed.

Generally a sample of any tissue removed is sent to the path lab to be 'tested'. This usually means that they look at a micro slice under the microscope for any abnormal cells.

I would ask your doc about it at your next check up.

I would suggest giving your doctor's office a call and ask for more clarification. Many times when an ovary is removed the tube is also, but not always. And possibly the card is stating that the right ovary and tube looked good which is why they were not removed.

So call the office and ask exactly what was removed and what was not! Then you will know for sure and can get that worry off your mind!

Best wishes for your recovery! S

Thank you for your info and advice.

I see my gyn/surg. a week from today for post-op appt. and already have a list of questions to ask him and this will definetly be on the top of the list.

I am going to ask him exactly what all was taken out, and what was left in.
