Sleep Problems after hysterectomy

Sorry for all the questions. Have anyone had problems with sleeping after surgery?

Re: Sleep Problems

Yes! I had surgery 2 wks ago, and still can't lay in my bed. I have to sit up in my recliner slightly reclined back, the same position Iwas in, while in the hospital. I've made several attempts to ly in bed, but it feels like something is ripping inside me.

Re: Sleep Problems

Lying awake most nights, very uncomfortable with a catheter in. I had a bad nightmare last night and woke up screaming, my hubby grabbed me before I could jump out of bed like I usually do (who has bad dreams about monkeys?). Sleep well tonight everyone.

Re: Sleep Problems

Yes, I am 2 weeks post-op from a TAH and I still have trouble sleeping comfortably, esp in bed. I find a recliner or even a couch better suited. I was accustomed to sleeping on my side, so it's really hard to sleep flat on my back in bed. I feel trapped or something.

It's starting to get a little better. I don't have a body pillow but I try pushing other pillows close around me and attempt to be on my side for short periods (5 - 10 minutes). It's a little uncomfortable but better than it was a few days ago.

You will find that you get stronger each day and as you get stronger, you sleep better.

You can always try things like Sleepy Time tea if you are so inclined.

Re: Sleep Problems after hysterectomy

Thx for posting this question! Reading your comments, and I have some sleepy time tea in the cupboard, don't have a clue where it came from, but I will be using it. Haven't rested peacefully since surgery! Sometimes I sit and watch daybreak! Or I'll wake up in the middle of the night to go, and can't go back to sleep. Sleeplessness is at an all time high for me! Still haven't been able to sleep in my bed. Good luck to u hun!
