Almost 6 weeks post hysterectomy ....pain control
Hi everyone,
Before I make the decision to go to the ER for the pain and cramping that I have been having for the last week...because my doctor is not willing to give me anything except motrin....
Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing pain requiring more than motrin or Tylenol at this point in the recovery??
At 3 weeks I was told that the incisin on my vaginal cuff had opened slightly and have been bleeding ever since. Now over the past week the sharp pains and cramping have been much more intense.
I am wondering if I need to get a second opinion seeing as though my surgeon doesn't seem to think this is a big deal??

Re: Almost 6 weeks....pain control
I would get another opinion because if the OTC's are not working, there is something more going on. I was in pain still at 6 weeks but I still had narcs left so I took them once in a while to help me. My pain stemmed from a muscle strain though and swelling..

Almost 6 weeks post hysterectomy ....pain control
Hi, I have always been told pain is our bodies way of telling us when something is wrong. If your pain is more than it was or more than motrin and or tylenol will help with you should go into the hospital. It is always better to be safe than sorry. Even if they give you the same answer, a second opinion is always comforting. I hope all goes well, good luck.

I think rather than just asking for more pain meds you should see a dr and find out if something is wrong. It's unusual to need prescription pain meds at 6 weeks post op.

Please definitely go see the dr as bleeding from the incision shouldn't be happening I don't think. There might be more going on. Let us know! Hang in there!

Almost 6 weeks post hysterectomy ....pain control
I have seen my surgeon 3 times since the surgery and I have spoke to the nurse who has relayed the information to the doctor. He does not feel that I need to be seen....says it's normal part of healing and it will get better. That's why I was questioning going to the ER.
I would rather not take any pain medication at all but the pain and cramping are wearing me down. I have a pretty high tolerance to pain however day after day with minimal relief is starting to take its toll.
I am awaiting yet anot her call back from his office...

Almost 6 weeks post hysterectomy ....pain control
Hello there..
As you wait for your return calls, pethaps try to ice your tummy ( if you haven't already). Move it from the lower abdomen to the upper during any and all of your resting times.
Keep up with your pain relievers snd take a deep breath.

I really don't think that this is normal for 6 weeks. Can you maybe see another dr? Even ask your primary to have a look?
