blood clots?

Hi, Sisters,

I just had the weirdest thing happen. Went to pee and a HUGE blood clot came out of me.....like as if I had my period.

I am two and a half weeks out from a total LAVH and have spotted enough since then to wear a pad every day, which my doc says is normal. Yesterday my legs, back, and pelvis were really crampy and achy, and I thought to myself that I would have thought I was going to start my period if I didn't know better. And today WOULD be the first day.

I'm not experiencing heavy bleeding now, it was just that one big clot. Please, does anyone have any experience with this? Is it normal, or do I need to call my doc when it's daylight?
Thanks!

blood clots?

I went to the DR almost 2 wks ago and when he did a pelvic exam he removed a LOT of blood clots. He said I wasn't healing as quickly as he would like put me on bed rest for a couple of days. I would call the DR and let them know this is going on. It could be nothing, but your DR needs to be aware of it.

blood clots?

Cassidy, thanks so much for your response.

I haven't had any more clots, but had some bad pain on my right side after that. Almost went to the ER, but called and left a message for my doctor's nurse and will wait for them. Took an 800mg. ibuprofen and it's helping. Just kind of freaked me out, you know?

Thanks again, and many blessings to you!

blood clots?

Hi Kristen

Glad to hear there hasn't been more to follow. I hope the motrin is working for you and your DR calls soon. Be sure to let him know about the pain you're having as well as the clot. If he's said you can, I know a heating pad helped alot for my pains & twinges since the surgery. But remember, if it gets too bad go ahead to the ER. There's no reason to sit and wait for the DR's call if you're suffering.

blood clots?

Cassidy gave you some good advice - I just wanted to let you know that I had that happen early on as well and when I talked to my doc he said it was all part of the vaginal cuff healing. Said the daylight doesn't get a chance to shine up there and so it stays dark and moist and the cuff doesn't dry out and heal like the rest of the stitched and so when things are progressing the "scabby" part just sort of sluffs off and falls out - like a clot. Could it be that this thing that scared me half to death too was actually a good sign of healing? It was for me, but I would call the doc and let them know anyway just to be safe. (Sometimes I wish they would let us know that some of this is to be expected, but then I guess that is maybe what all the lawsuits have done to healthcare?) Good luck!!
Hugs,
Aimee
