LUNA anyone had it? know long term risks of it?

hello all,

i've not had a hyst, although it was suggested to me at 25 for (at that point, unconfirmed) adeno.

but pre-diagnosis at 21, i had a lap and they couldn't se any endo then... so they put me in the LUNA trials for non-specific pelvic pain.

needless to say, pain is still here, caused by adeno, possible endo and possible IC.

but... i still don't know if i had LUNA. the google searches i've done have described women experiencing prolapse after LUNA, although any info on luna is scant.

anyone know any info, or where i can find some?

many thanks.
cheshire kitten

ps... the science bit for those of you who don't know... luna stands for laser uterosacral nerve ablation. they laser the nerve going from the uterus, and cut through the ligaments holding it (hence the prolapse risk).

Hi Chesirekitten

I'm sorry you are suffering with pelvic pain. It stinks at any age but I feel particularly bad for the younger ladies.

Your GYN should have this in your records or maybe you can obtain your own records and see what the operative report says?

I don't have any experience with LUNA, but I did notice that it can also be referred to as "Laparoscopic Uterosacral Nerve Ablation" and that term seems to have a lot more info when Googled.

Sorry I don't have more to offer

Hope you find something to help you soon.
Best wishes & s,
Beth
