Nervous tension: Easing Edginess...

There have been enough of us that have expressed our high anxieties about our upcoming Castle dates, and so I thought these tips might help us relax a bit...... hope they help.

'When nervous tension seizes control of your body, use these stradegies to regain the upper hand.......

* 'Practice preogressive muscle relaxation. This technique, which involves systematically tensing and releasing your muscles, can help calm you down within just a few moments.
To give progressive muscle relaxation a try:
Begin by clenching your hands into fists. Hold for 10 seconds, then release. Move on to your face, tensing and releasing the muscles there. Proceed to your neck, shoulders, arms, stomach, lower back, buttocks, thighs, calves, and feet. When are done you should feel completely relaxed.........

* 'Exercise for 30 minutes at least 3 times a week. "Nothing wallops nervous tension like a workout, it stimulates the production of endorphins, your brain's own morphinlike chemicals. Endorphins fill your entire body with the sense of calm and well-being." Be sure to choose an activity that you can be comfortable with -- perhaps walking, running, cycling, or swimming........

Here's an important note....
* 'GIVE YOURSELF PERMISSION TO FEEL ANXIOUS. "ANXIETY IS A YELLOW LIGHT, NOT A RED STOP SIGN. ANXIETY TELLS YOU TO LOOK AT HOW YOU CAN DEAL MORE EFFECTIVELY WITH A POTENTIAL PROBLEM. IT DOESN'T TELL YOU TO GIVE UP ON DOING WHAT YOU WANT TO DO."

and,........

* ' "INFORMATION IS OFTEN THE BEST ANTIDOTE TO ANXIETY. NO MATTER WHAT AWFUL SITUATION CONFRONTS YOU, LEARN ALL YOU CAN ABOUT IT. THE KNOWLEDGE YOU GAIN CAN HELP ALLEVIATE YOUR DISTRESS".'

and don't forget as many other fellow sisters have reminded us,... "THIS TOO SHALL PASS"!!

God bless you all!! :BGRIN:

Nervous tension: Easing Edginess...

Dear Tahnee,

Thank you so much for posting the progressive muscle relaxation techique - I have used that at various times to get to sleep when I've had a rough day at work, or been too stressed out about something to fall asleep easily.

It really does work, ladies.
