2.5 days till hysterectomy and feeling stessed and maybee unwell?

is there anything any one can suggest if i am getting a cold?
what will happen if it is?

I started coming down with one two weeks before surgery and was given a strong antibiotic and some Ativan to help with sleeping. Rest lots and take extra vitamins (cold fx works good!) and maybe give the Dr a call to see what they think

yesterday I wasn't feeling so hot, my stomach is all achy and sore with presser this morning, today have to travel to San Jose so I am close to the hospital, no sleep last night.
So the closer you get to the surgery the worst you fell. Take care of yourself and good luck

In the days leading up to surgery I felt like I was getting sick. But I think it was just nerves. I got there and my temp was normal and so was everything else.

I think the stress starts to get to us as we know that surgery can get cancelled if we develop a cough/fever.

What i can suggest is continue to get good rest and drink plenty of water. Try and stay away from visibly sick people and you should be fine.

If you are still concerned call your Dr's office and see what he/she says.

I have a mass right at the opening of my cervix, they have explained that when this drops down over the opening it causes my pain. So of all days this had to happen it would be today, I was wanting a light easy day, travel, nice stay at our friends boutique hotel, Chinese food for lunch and salad for dinner, instead I have the shuffling walk and pain, if it gets to bad will go to straight to the clinic and get a shot . Thank goodness this is all almost over. Been doing this for over 3 years and tomorrow it is gone.

They told me at my preop that if I was feeling sick within a week of my surgery to call my gyn...if it's just a little cold it's probably no biggie. Could even be allergies at this time of year. I'd just call the doc before taking any otc remedies, especially anything herbal, since some of them might have ingredients that can increase bleeding....

Hoping you feel better. Stress and nerves reck havoc before surgery, coupled with this time of year and the weather changes -- tough call if it is a cold coming on or allergies or nuffin. Talk with your doctor. Lots of water and rest. And trust that it will be okay even when you are at wits end... because you are worth it!!!!!!!!!

thanks for all of you who have replied its the weekend and cant speak to my gynie till day of surgery so hopefully as most of you have replied it just being stressed and nerves due to op coming up very soon!! been teary at the drop of a hat too last 2 days which is not like me! i am assuming it is all part of the process too??

I would just try and rest as much as possible, drink lots of fluids and pamper yourself before your big day. I was sooo worried that I was going to get sick right before my surgery that I was so anxiously waiting for and like you I felt sick leading up to it but I think it was nerves. It will all be over soon and you will feel sooooo much better. Oh and don't take any cold medicine especially Cold fx...I love that stuff but was warned not to take any I believe it was 2 weeks leading up to surgery.
