My Turn To Freak

I am scheduled for surgery on Wednesday, May 16. I have been reading the message boards and gathering all the information I thought I needed. As "D-Day" got closer, I had to stop reading so I would stop freaking. I am really glad that I decided to get back on and I saw your post. Don't feel alone. I am scared to death. All of the what-if's are enough to drive you nuts. I have done the same things you are doing. I have been miserable for 2 years, and now after making the decision to finally have surgery, I have tried to convince myself that " maybe it's not so bad". We are going to be fine. My favorite word of advice to my kids is "believe it, and you can achieve it." I guess it's time to take my own advice. I wish you a speedy recovery, and a new lease on life. I had my TAH in August 1999 and came here for support and believe me you came to the right place.

I had all the same emotions you are experiencing. I just couldn't keep up with all the things I had to do so I just stopped and took care of myself.

Especially before surgery, you need to feel ok emotionally. Scared is normal and we all went through it.

I am so glad I had my surgery done. I prolonged it for a long while. Before you know it, it will be over and you will be home with your family.
